It may be rightfully said the Pyrenees are what
divides the Iberian Peninsula from the remainder of Europe. There
is a great deal of cultural diversion; interestingly dating back to
ancient times.
In order to take advantage of the Pyrenees it is important you
enjoy the landscape and indulge in the regional cuisine. However
that said, it would take the entirety of one's life to realize all
of the sight-seeing opportunities.
The area is an excellent hiking venue. You may ascend to Eagle's
Meadow and enjoy panoramic views of the sun-laden valley below. You
may wish to hike from Coll de Nuria to Uldeter located over Sierra
Catllar. The hike takes eight hours and it is best to traverse the
area when weather is at its best—April to October. The Cerdanya
Valley may be hiked year-round and Andorra is best trekked during
summer.
An historical perspective may be gained by visiting San Juan de
Plan and the Gistain Valley. Here a view of hamlet life in the
early 1900s may be explored. The area is considered one of the most
isolated sections within the Pyrenees.
Certainly visit Taull to enjoy the site of a Romanesque-style
ecclesiastical structure complete with murals.
Parque Nacional de Ordesa y Monte Perdido is filled with
breath-taking countryside. There are even mountain goats within the
milieu.
